The Crochet Lite
After seeing The Crochet Lite hooks–those nifthy hooks with a light in them–in craft stores in my area, I just had to have one, so I added an H to my hook collection.
Although the idea of being able to crochet in places where the lighting is lacking is definitely a great concept, I have to say that I’m only semi-impressed. I do like the idea of the light, but for someone who gets migraines like I do, the little light in the end of this hook is a migraine waiting to happen. One wrong eye-to-hook contact, and I’m doomed–at least for a few hours. Too, I know plastic is probably the only logical choice for a hook such as this, but I personally do not like to crochet with plastic hooks. I just don’t like the way most yarn stutters across them. On the plus side, the handle makes this hook very comfortable to hold, and I do like the fact that if I’m the passenger traveling at night, at a school play, or at the movies, I can still crochet in the dark with one little light.
Truth be known, it’s very rare that I do any of those three things.
I may eventually add other sizes to my collection, but I want to see how much this one gets used first. Or see if I ever have one of those “geez, I wish I had a lighted hook in a different size” moment. Even if I don’t, at least I have the one in my collection.
