International Crochet Day
Today is the second annual International Crochet Day. No, you won’t find cards from Hallmark to send to your friends, but you could always make some and add a crocheted embellishment. Take some time today to promote crochet, whether it be crocheting in public, teaching someone to crochet, giving a crocheted project to charity, writing in your blog about the ways you’re promoting crochet, etc.–it’s really up to you.
To quote Jimbo from Jimbo’s Front Porch:
…simply take your crochet out in public to raise awareness that crochet is an artform that can be done nearly anywhere, that it is a very relaxing and constructive thing to do.
And be sure to enter a comment on his blog to enter to win one of his fabulous handmade hooks.
How will I be celebrating today? Well, everyday is a crochet day for me since it’s such a large part of my life. When I’m not actually crocheting, I’m usually working on a new pattern, planning the next crochet guild meeting, working on a class schedule, spinning, teaching someone else…the list goes on. For me, it’s definitely more than just a hobby. If I have the chance to promote the day outside of my usual, I will, but still, the things I work on today behind the scenes will be shared at a later date.
So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and promote all that crochet goodness, and have fun doing it! Happy day!
